That's my sick boy. He's still delicious even with his teary eyes and runny nose. His spirits have been pretty good the past couple of days, despite his suffering through his first ever cold. Mama is holding up too. Just when I thought I was sleeping through the night, and Henry had finally officially moved into his own room, I'm now getting up every hour to make sure he can still breathe through his stuffy nose.
Yesterday, my Mom came to visit Henry and me. We talked. She gave me Henry breaks. We ate Cabbage Roll Casserole. It was a good time. I'm so blessed to have a mom so willing to help, so close, and such a good friend.

A dear friend of mine came to visit today. I haven't seen her for nearly three years. Helen (above) was born in Ireland, grew up in France as a missionary kid, and is now working and living in Scotland. I met Helen while she was studying for a semester in Canada. She is so lovely, and passionate. Today we were both shedding happy and sad tears as we opened our hearts. My bestest girlfriend (and sister-in-law) Kate also visited for awhile. I will definitely be posting more on Kate later.

Today also was the beginning of a new experiment. Cloth Diapers. I've been wanting to use cloth diapers ever since I found out I was expecting. However, our apartment doesn't have a washer or dryer (almost its only downside - but a big downside at that) and that makes cloth diapering a bit more challenging. I recently discovered Sweet Peach a reasonably priced diaper service that delivers their own diapers. I use 'em up. Throw them out in a bag on the front porch every Tuesday morning and the dirty ones disappear and leave fresh and clean ones in their place! Wonderful. I'm remaining realistic about the whole thing. I want to use them because they are better for the environment and have less chemicals then disposables. Any advice or product recommendations would be welcome! I'll be sure to do a review after this week.

Oh poor wee lad! I hope he's back to normal soon. Helen looks great, I'm glad you had a visit with her after all. Those diapers look intersting. We'll see how they do.
Love you, sweetie
Mom
I sew, use and advocate for cd's, but at the same time, I know you have to weigh the pros & cons for your family & for the environment. If you live in an area where water is a scarce resource, cloth may not be the best choice for the environment. Whether it is the best choice for your family or not will be an easier judgment call. Good luck!
I use cloth nappies & love them, but at the same time I appreciate how hard it would be to do without access to a washing machine. My washing machine had a catastrophic accident in May & I had to go back to disposables for a few weeks.
Good luck with the option you've found. Do they come with reusable liners made from microfleece? Some people like to use them to draw moisture away from baby's bottom.
Hi :) Glad you found my blog!! Thank you for the nice comments :) Awww...I wanted to kiss your little guy in the sick picture :( I see you cloth diaper! You go, Mama!! I am a CD addict and if you look around my site more, you'll see I'm a wool addict too!! hehe Ever need any advice, let me know!! I remember my first baby... I had a zillion and a half questions on how to raise him and how to keep house!! I STILL need tons of advice and I have 5 :)
Keep up the good work!! :) Bridget
Mom - Love you too :)
Michelle - thanks for the encouragement. I did take a two day break when I got sick (reverting back to what is known and easier for me) but were perservering another week to see how it all goes. So far it's really easy. But if I fully committ I'll need to invest in a few more diaper covers :)
Toria - they do have reusable liners and they are great and work especially well when I double them up for night time. No leaks yet - and Henry can soak 'em good :)
Bridget - thanks for the encouragement. I'll be sure to stop by your blog and may just pick your brain a little :) I am ALWAYS interested in what experienced moms have to say!
