When we purchased our home I had no idea how the front kitchen porch would become an extension of our living space. The door stays open most of the day and boys wander in and out as the mood strikes.
It serves us practically as a place for shoes, strollers and recycling. It allows the boys to watch for cars and trucks, or to shout loud hellos to every passerby. We eat lunch out here. Wait anxiously for Daddy (or friends or family) to arrive from the porch. Rip the flowers out of the boxes hanging on the porch. . .wait, that's just Sam.
Every day I dream about different colours to paint the doors and trim (red? glossy black? mustard yellow? turquoise family?). For now we are working with the lilac colour. I had visions of switching out the door but have grown fond of the sound of our wooden screen door slamming open and shut -- it is the sound of summer.
We especially love and appreciate the large Maple tree out front. The shade and breeze make the kitchen porch one of the coolest spots on a hot day.
Do you have a favourite spot in your home? Do you have any colour inspiration for my kitchen porch?

Ness,
I love seeing the boys grow and I love that you have a whole blog to look back on when their older and see how much they have changed and grown:) Sam is such a boy! Nothing like Henry was. I'm jealous of your front porch:P Its such an awesome way to visit<3 I think you have done a great job of decorating it and when the time comes you'll decide on a color and love it! I have faith in you and you always make your house lovely!
Love ya!
