Because Monday was a Civic Holiday (at least in Ontario) Cory and I began our celebration a day early. Henry gave us our first Anniversary gift by sleeping in until 9am(!!). Around 10 o'clock we headed out the door for a delicious Breakfast at a Breakfast only restaurant called Cora's. Henry slept through most of breakfast - which was absolutely delicious. We really enjoyed our mounds of fresh and sweet fruit. . .mmmm. . .
From there we went to the Arboretum. We walked through the Arboretum to the Ottawa Canal, along the Canal, and back.

PHEW. Henry was especially tired from all the walking.

We were so thankful for a lovely day. The sun shone beautifully, there was a bit of a cool breeze - perfect!! In the Arboretum there is a very special Oak tree (arguably one of the most beautiful trees in Ottawa) under which Cory proposed to me nearly 3 years ago.

So Henry Cory and I played games, laughed, talked, and ate some snacks. We got some wonderful pictures of Henry.

He was in such a delightful mood. He enjoyed the day just as much, if not more, then us. Cory and I were reflecting on how much joy Henry has brought us. Children are such a gift.

God has been so good to us the past year. It is true what they say - your love really does grow stronger and deeper over time. If I feel this way at 2 years what will I feel at 10?? or 25?? or even 60???
Cory went off to work early this morning. My Mom arrived around 10 o'clock. We spent the day in a specialty sewing machine/wool shop. Afterwards we went for lunch and were shocked when we arrived back at the car and it was already 3:30 - where had the day gone??? My Mom left to pick up my Dad from work and begin the commute home.
Henry settled in for a long nap, which gave me just enough time to write out an Anniversary card to Cory and make him "Ginger Fried Beef" (recipe to come soon!) for Supper. We picnicked outside by candlelight, as well as flowers that Cory brought home for me today, for ambiance.

Recently we’ve been reading through the book of Mark for family worship after Supper. But today Cory ended our meal by reading John 15:1-27. John 15:12 was our wedding scripture and we find it really encouraging to go back to this portion of The Word and talk through it.
My command is this:
Love each other as I have loved you.
John 15:12

I LOVE that you read the Word together in the evening. That alone will make your marriage stronger with each passing year.
