I had a little bit of energy today so, after Cory brought home our groceries (we usually enjoy shopping for groceries together, but since I was sick he offered to go for me - so sweet!) and we started to put them away I decided to reorganize my pantry cupboards. The baking and cooking ingredients were all mixed up, and I had plastic packages that needed to be emptied into their respective jars. Food items, or anything really, are so much prettier and healthier in jars rather than plastic.
Here is my before pantry cupboards (part way through the job)

And here is the after. . .

Much better.
After that I went through all my shoes and divided them into "keep". "second-hand", and "garbage" piles. I've been promising Cory I'd do this for a long time now. I was ruthless and he was happy.
Finally, my desk in the kitchen was getting a little out of hand. . .
20 minutes later. . .

I am slowly realizing that some of the jobs I put off really only take a few extra minutes, and the results are always so satisfying.
I think Cory and I are going to go for a small walk and have an easy breakfast supper tonight (he's craving breakfast sausage with friend onions and I'm not complaining!!).
Have a blessed Lord's Day tomorrow!

I'm the queen of procrastination--- but I'm just like you--- I realize the rewards. I love your computer nook...
Glad Henry is better and you are on your way!
I love before and after pics! Yours all look great. I too love your computer nook.
I can make out a wedding pic. We saw some of Jen's wedding, but your mom was not blogging when you married. Maybe you could show a couple of your own wedding pictures...wink wink!!
So happy you're starting to feel a little better. The pantry and desk look wonderful!
Love you
Mom
Ms. Screen Door - I'm beginning to realize the folly of procrastination. But changing the habit is a different story!! I'm slowly gaining success in this area :)
Bren - At some point I think I'll post a wedding album. Maybe a little story of how we met and married!
Mom - Thanks! Love you!
I wish i had taken before and after pictures of my various "nesting" tasks I have completed in the past week. Its amazing how great it feels to have it done, unfortunately for me, it didnt take me 20 minutes to take care of my unruly desk because it had become the dumping ground for everything. I think 2 hours later i had a clean area! Procrastination got it to be that bad.
ummm... when are you gonna blog about how you saw me?!?
Hi Vanessa, Just dropped by to say hello. That boy of yours is getting big fast.So cute! Glad to hear you are feeling better. (yucky colds, especially in the summer with a baby) I have a friend who lives far away from us. She is in a similar situation to yours in that she does not have space for a garden. She is blessed as you are to live near a wonderful market. My friend uses the market just like I use my garden, and it really gives her a feeling of being able to do some of the canning and freezing we do in the country. It works for her. She also has access to wonderful parks like you. Fresh produce & beautiful walks it sounds like you are really doing a great job "blooming where you are planted!" Just think, no weeding & no grass to cut! You are doing a great job, I'm sure your mom tells you all the time, but from the outside looking in you are doing great. Blessings to all of you.
Love, Margaret "Lady of the Manor"
